Keyboard Navigation Help

DSX supports keyboard navigation. Use these shortcuts to move around the website without a mouse. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

Custom Keyboard Shortcuts

Toggle custom keyboard shortcuts on or off. This setting is saved to your browser.

For screen reader users: If custom shortcuts conflict with your assistive technology, disable them here. Standard Tab navigation, Enter, Space, and Escape keys always work regardless of this setting.

Global Shortcuts

These shortcuts work throughout the entire application:

Quick Navigation

  • Skip to main contentAlt + C
  • Main navigationAlt + M
  • Open quick menu (when skip link focused)M

Page Navigation

  • Go to homepageAlt + H
  • Skip to footerAlt + Shift + F
  • Close modal/dialogEsc

Table Navigation

When focused on a data table, use these keys to navigate:

  • Move up↑
  • Move down↓
  • Move left←
  • Move right→
  • First cell in rowHome
  • Last cell in rowEnd
  • Select rowSpace
  • Perform actionEnter

Form Navigation

Standard form navigation keys:

  • Next fieldTab
  • Previous fieldShift + Tab
  • Submit formCtrl + Enter
  • Toggle checkbox/radioSpace
  • Open dropdownAlt + ↓

Screen Reader Support

Some parts of DSX are not yet announced properly by screen readers, for example the Avatar chat. We are fixing these. The known issues are listed on our Accessibility Statement. Screen-reader testing by a person is planned.

Common Screen Readers:

  • NVDA (Windows) - Free and open source
  • JAWS (Windows) - Commercial
  • VoiceOver (macOS/iOS) - Built-in
  • TalkBack (Android) - Built-in
